Aidan Gallery was founded by the artist Aidan Salakhova in summer 1992, and was located at 23/7 Novopeschanaya Square. It exhibited contemporary painting, digital or digitally modified photography, collages, objects and computer-generated graphics. Critics defined the gallery’s style as ‘new Russian classicism.’ After changing its location twice in the 2000s, the gallery eventually settled at Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art. Aidan Gallery closed in Spring 2012, and Aidan Salakhova donated its archive to Garage in the autumn of that year.
Aidan Gallery’s archive contains portfolios of artists represented by the gallery, including Oleg Dou, Anna Zholud, Rauf Mamedov, Sergey Mironenko, Konstantin Latyshev, Rostan Tavasiev, Olga Tobreluts, Stas Shuripa and Sergei Shutov. The collection also contains documents, photographs, slides and newspaper cuttings related to the gallery’s exhibition projects.
