In early 2020 Garage established a theater archive. The collection is constantly being updated and includes materials on the history of contemporary theater in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Togliatti, and other cities. It is based on documents from festivals and theater productions, including posters, programs, press releases, invitations, booklets, press cuttings, and photographs (portraits of theater people, production shots, etc.) in digital and analogue formats.
The archive enables researchers to establish the theatrical context of the development of artists and other creative professionals and to explore the changes taking place on stage in Moscow and other large cities. Priority is given to those phenomena that had a significant influence on Russia theater and cinematography and are closely linked to the contemporary art scene.
Within the archive there are a number of private collections that comprise materials about concrete phenomena in contemporary theater, reflect important time periods or represent the archive of a particular individual.
