MANI Archive
Artists belonging to the Moscow Conceptualism movement compiled MANI (the Moscow Archive of New Art) to document their activities from 1980 to 1982 and facilitate dialogue amongst themselves. The archive includes theoretical texts, documentary photographs, original artworks, handmade books, and exhibition materials relating to and produced by the foundational artists, poets, and theorists of the movement.
MANI itself is a product of the museification practiced by Moscow Conceptualists; therefore, it is an archival project that became an artistic creation itself. A limited number of the five MANI papki was produced and distributed, succeeded by another group of materials spanning 1986–1991 (MANI sborniki), and a self-documenting collection from 1988 onwards, the MANI Museum.
