The archive contains materials dated from the late 1980s to the mid-2010s. The first section is made up of ephemera. Covering mainly the art of the 2000s, it features press releases, invitations, and programs of events and exhibitions at cultural venues of the time. The second section is a collection of books on the history of art and catalogues of Russian and international artists. The third section includes articles on artists and the creative process and newspaper clippings for the period 1978–2008. The fourth section comprises rare samizdat art magazines, artists’ books, Russian feminist newspapers, and activist publications.
Natalia Samkova (b. 1979) is an art historian, independent curator, and author of articles and lectures on contemporary art. From 1999 to 2001, she studied Art History at Moscow State University. She worked at Moscow’s National Center for Contemporary Arts in 2001–2002 and in the Department of New Trends at the State Tretyakov Gallery in 2002–2003.
