Description
Nikolai Mikhailovich Suetin was a leading artist in “Malevichs circle”, one of his favorite pupils. Being a true follower of Malevich, Suetin still retained his own creative identity, managing to establish an original version of suprematism. He further developed its theory and used it in practice for painting, design, architecture, typography and decorating porcelain. Suetin was a key figure in Vitebsk UNOVIS group, worked with Malevich in GINKhUK. For a long time he was the chief artist in residence for the Leningrad Porcelain Factory, worked for architect Alexander Nikolsky researching polychromy issues in architecture. Suetin designed a large number of major international exhibitions in the 1930s-1950s.
