Description
This catalogue is published in conjunction with “Surviving Suprematism: Lazar Khidekel”, an exhibition held at the Judah L. Magnes Museum (2004–2005). The exhibition examined Khidekel’s career from the years immediately following the Russian revolution to the fall of the Soviet state. In the darkest years of Soviet totalitarianism, Khidekel managed to incorporate radical principles into official architectural commissions. The catalogue includes drawings, watercolors, sketches and photographs of Khidekel’s buildings, interview with Lazar Khidekel's son and daughter‑in‑law Mark and Regina Khidekel conducted by Alla Efimova.
