Xiaoyu Weng received her M.A. in Curatorial Practice at the California College of the Arts in 2009. As the inaugural 101 Curatorial Follow, supported by Artnow International in San Francisco, Weng worked at the CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts. The exhibition she curated Route 1: R for Replicant was based on the 101 Collection and on view at the Wattis from January 19 to April 10 2010. She has also worked for the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, UK, the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive and the Asian Art Musuem in San Francisco. Weng’s recent curatorial projects include: “The Secret of the Ninth Planet” at Queen’s Nails Projects and “Photo Epicenter”, San Francisco, “Bioanthrophony”, Playspace Gallery, San Francisco, and “The Mythology of the Secret Recipe — Americana: Kentucky”, CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts, San Francisco. Weng grew up in Shanghai and holds her B.A. degree in Art History and Art Administration from China Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing. Her study at CCA was supported by the Asian Cultural Council Starr Foundation Fellowship and the Carmen M. Christensen Graduate Scholarship.
