The reasoned catalog of Lucio Fontana’s work represents the most comprehensive and advanced publication on this fundamental aspect of the artist’s work, one of the greatest protagonists of the artistic XX century. The result of the monumental archival work and documentation of the authenticity of the Fondazione Lucio Fontana, the reasoned catalog, realized in collaboration with Nini Ardemagni Laurini and Silvia Ardemagni, retraces four decades of artist’s creative activity, interlacing in parallel his research paths. From the astounding corpus of figurative elaborations, already living in the 30’s with abstract research, comes the original invention of “space” art, which leads to the birth and development of its very own “holes”, “environments”, “cuts”. The study also presents the first extensive and unpublished documentation of dialogue with architecture, decoration, experimentation of unusual techniques and materials.
