Gallery and verlag Martin Schmitz talk about documenta IX. In October 1989 the Galerie Martin Schmitz was opened with an exhibition by Wolfgang Müller in Kassel. At the same time, the first book was published by the publisher: The most beautiful interviews by Wolfgang Müller/ Bat — Das Buch zur Schallplatte. The idea was to be present regionally with exhibitions and to convey the program independently with the books in many other cities. The gallery was located in a former kiosk from the 1950s, which was part of the planning concept for a new old town in Kassel and was integrated in the new home style around the horse market.
