Description
Leonid Sokov (1941–2018) was a member of Sots Art, the 1960s Russian conceptual group. His roughly executed sculptures and paintings juxtapose the competing ideologies and motifs of communism and capitalism. This book, published in conjunction with Leonid Sokov's retrospective exhibitions in Moscow Museum of Contemporary Art and the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, is a comprehensive presentation of the artist's work, containing essays by leading scholars and critics in the field such as Andrei Erofeev, Boris Groys and Julia Tulovsky, and notes on Sots Art written by Leonid Sokov himself.
