Alexei Shulgin was born in 1963 in Moscow. He graduated in Cybernetics of Metallurgical Processes from Moscow State Institute of Steel and Alloys. He is the founder of the Immediate Photography Group (1987). Beginning in 1997, he was one of the first people in Russian making Internet art. In 1998, he founded the cyberpunk rock group 386 DX. In 2004, together with Aristarkh Chernyshev, he created the project Electroboutique. He is a winner of the Kandinsky Prize in the nomination Media Art. Project of the Year (with Aristarkh Chernyshev, 2009).
